  • 1 lb shrimp (peeled and deveined)
  • 1 cup Cajun seasoning (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 cup cornmeal
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • Oil for frying (vegetable or canola)

Instructions

  1. Prep the shrimp by peeling, deveining, rinsing, and drying them with paper towels.
  2. Whisk together buttermilk and a dash of Cajun seasoning in a bowl.
  3. In another bowl, mix equal parts flour and cornmeal with a couple of tablespoons of Cajun seasoning.
  4. Dip each shrimp in the buttermilk mixture, then coat with the flour mixture.
  5. Heat about an inch of oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
  6. Fry shrimp in batches for 2-3 minutes on each side or until golden brown.
  7. Drain excess oil on paper towels and serve immediately with dipping sauce.
