  • Milk (as needed for buttercream)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 9×9-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, cream softened butter, then add eggs and vanilla extract until smooth.
  4. Gradually incorporate dry ingredients into wet mixture until just combined.
  5. Pour batter into prepared pan and bake for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. Let cool in pan for 15 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
  7. Prepare buttercream by mixing softened butter, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and milk until desired consistency is reached.
  8. Spread buttercream over cooled bars, add sprinkles if desired, and slice into squares.
