- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 sheet puff pastry
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp nutmeg
- 2 tbsp lemon juice
Instructions
- Peel, core, and slice apples into wedges; toss with lemon juice.
- In a cast-iron skillet, melt butter over medium heat and add sugars, stirring until smooth and amber.
- Arrange apple slices in the caramel; cook for about 10 minutes, flipping occasionally.
- Sprinkle with cinnamon and nutmeg, and stir gently.
- Cover apples with puff pastry, tucking edges into the skillet.
- Bake at 375°F for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
- Let cool for a few minutes before inverting onto a plate.
- Serve warm, optionally with vanilla ice cream.
