Delightful chocolate cups filled with luscious caramel, perfect for holiday gatherings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 8 oz dark or milk chocolate
- 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp sea salt
- Optional: crushed nuts (pecans or walnuts)
- Optional: flavored chocolates (peppermint bark)
Instructions
- Melt the chocolate in a double boiler, stirring until smooth. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
- Line a mini muffin tray with paper liners. Spoon melted chocolate into each liner to create a shell and chill for about 15 minutes until firm.
- In a saucepan, combine sweetened condensed milk, butter, and vanilla extract over medium heat. Stir constantly for 5-10 minutes until thickened and golden.
- Remove chocolate shells from the fridge and spoon caramel into each shell, filling three-quarters full.
- Melt remaining chocolate and spoon a layer on top to seal the caramel. Chill until set.
- For garnish, sprinkle sea salt or crushed peppermint before the chocolate sets. Serve on a platter.
Notes
Use high-quality chocolate for best results. Allow each layer to cool to maintain clean edges.
