Description
Soft and warm rolls filled with rich cream cheese and spiced cinnamon sugar, perfect for breakfast or dessert.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup full-fat cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup milk, warm
- 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
- 2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine warm milk, yeast, and a teaspoon of sugar. Let sit until frothy.
- In a larger bowl, mix flour, sugar, and a pinch of salt. Add melted butter, yeast mixture, and eggs, then knead until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let rise until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
- While the dough rises, mix cream cheese, granulated sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla extract in a bowl.
- Punch down the risen dough and roll it out into a rectangle. Spread the cream cheese mixture and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar.
- Roll the dough tightly from the edge and slice into equal parts. Place in a greased baking dish.
- Let the rolls rise again until puffed, about 30-45 minutes.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
- Drizzle with a simple glaze made from powdered sugar and milk, or serve plain.
Notes
Allow dough to rise adequately for a soft texture. A warm environment helps with the rising process.
