Description

A comforting and easy-to-make dish combining buttery orzo, succulent shrimp, and vibrant broccoli, perfect for family meals.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup Orzo pasta
  • 1 lb medium-sized shrimp
  • 2 cups fresh broccoli florets
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Cook the orzo in salted boiling water until al dente, about 8-10 minutes. Drain and set aside, reserving some pasta water.
  2. In a skillet, melt 2 tablespoons butter over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 30 seconds.
  3. Add shrimp, season with salt and pepper, and cook until pink and opaque, about 3-4 minutes. Remove shrimp from the pan and set aside.
  4. In the same skillet, add a splash of water and broccoli florets. Cover and steam for about 2-3 minutes until bright green and crisp-tender.
  5. Reduce heat and add remaining butter, heavy cream, lemon juice, and Parmesan to the skillet. Stir to combine, adding pasta water if needed to loosen the sauce.
  6. Add cooked orzo, shrimp, and broccoli to the skillet, tossing gently to coat. Adjust seasoning as needed.
  7. Serve warm, garnishing with extra cheese and fresh herbs as desired.

Notes

Be careful not to overcook the shrimp to maintain tenderness. Fresh ingredients yield the best flavor.
