Description
A comforting and easy-to-make dish combining buttery orzo, succulent shrimp, and vibrant broccoli, perfect for family meals.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup Orzo pasta
- 1 lb medium-sized shrimp
- 2 cups fresh broccoli florets
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Cook the orzo in salted boiling water until al dente, about 8-10 minutes. Drain and set aside, reserving some pasta water.
- In a skillet, melt 2 tablespoons butter over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 30 seconds.
- Add shrimp, season with salt and pepper, and cook until pink and opaque, about 3-4 minutes. Remove shrimp from the pan and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add a splash of water and broccoli florets. Cover and steam for about 2-3 minutes until bright green and crisp-tender.
- Reduce heat and add remaining butter, heavy cream, lemon juice, and Parmesan to the skillet. Stir to combine, adding pasta water if needed to loosen the sauce.
- Add cooked orzo, shrimp, and broccoli to the skillet, tossing gently to coat. Adjust seasoning as needed.
- Serve warm, garnishing with extra cheese and fresh herbs as desired.
Notes
Be careful not to overcook the shrimp to maintain tenderness. Fresh ingredients yield the best flavor.
