Description

A delightful cake that combines the flavors of crème brûlée, caramel, and pecans, perfect for festive occasions or indulgent desserts.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup caramel sauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugars until light and fluffy (about 3-4 minutes).
  3. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition, then mix in the vanilla extract.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the flour and baking powder, then gradually add to the butter mixture until just combined.
  5. Gently fold in the chopped pecans.
  6. Pour the batter into a greased cake pan and level the top. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Let cool for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
  7. In a saucepan, combine heavy cream and a few tablespoons of sugar over medium heat until sugar dissolves. Cool slightly, then mix in beaten egg yolks.
  8. Once the cake is completely cooled, pour the crème brûlée mixture over the top.
  9. Caramelize the topping under a broiler or with a kitchen torch until crispy. Watch carefully to avoid burning!
  10. Let cool before slicing. Serve as is or with whipped cream.

Notes

For a lighter option, substitute some butter with Greek yogurt. For nut substitutions, consider using walnuts or hazelnuts.
