- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon cloves
- 1/2 cup pumpkin puree (optional)
- 2 eggs
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- Milk (for icing consistency)
Instructions
- Warm milk until just below simmering, add sugar and sprinkle yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes.
- In a bowl, combine flour, salt, eggs, and melted butter. Pour in yeast mixture and mix until a sticky dough forms. Knead for 10 minutes until smooth.
- Cover dough and let rise in a warm place until doubled in size.
- Mix cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, brown sugar, and softened butter in a bowl for filling.
- Roll dough onto a floured surface, spreading the filling generously.
- Roll tightly and slice into rolls, placing in a greased baking dish.
- Let rolls rise, covered, for 30-45 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 350°F and bake for 20-25 minutes until golden.
- Mix cream cheese and powdered sugar with milk for icing; add food coloring if desired.
- Drizzle icing over rolls once slightly cooled.
Notes
These rolls can be frozen unbaked or baked. Store leftovers in an airtight container.
