Description
A delightful and spicy dip that combines the tartness of cranberries with the heat of jalapeños, perfect for gatherings and celebrations.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups fresh or frozen cranberries
- 2–3 fresh jalapeños, finely chopped
- 8 oz cream cheese (or Greek yogurt for a lighter version)
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 cup onion, finely chopped
- 1/4 cup cilantro or parsley, chopped
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp pepper
- 1–2 tbsp honey or sugar (to taste)
- Optional: 1/2 tsp smoked paprika, cumin or cayenne pepper
Instructions
- Prepare the ingredients: Rinse fresh cranberries thoroughly, and if using frozen, ensure they’ve defrosted. De-stem and chop jalapeños finely.
- Sauté the jalapeños: In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add jalapeños, garlic, and onion. Sauté until onions turn translucent.
- Mix the base: In a bowl, beat cream cheese until creamy. Gradually add the sautéed mixture and cranberries, mixing until well combined.
- Season to taste: Add salt, pepper, and sweetener. Stir well to meld flavors. For extra spice, add cumin or cayenne pepper.
- Chill and serve: Cover and refrigerate for at least an hour or overnight before serving.
Notes
For a milder dip, use pickled jalapeños or adjust the amount of jalapeños according to your spice tolerance. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to five days.
