Description
Delightful puff pastry trees filled with sautéed garlic mushrooms and herbs, perfect for festive gatherings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 package puff pastry (thawed)
- 2 cups fresh mushrooms (button or cremini, chopped)
- 2 cloves garlic (minced)
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley (chopped)
- 1 tablespoon fresh thyme (chopped)
- 1/2 cup cheese (mozzarella or parmesan, grated)
- 1 egg (beaten, for wash)
- Olive oil (for sautéing)
- Salt and pepper (to taste)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a skillet, heat a splash of olive oil over medium heat, add garlic and sauté until fragrant.
- Add the chopped mushrooms; cook until golden brown and liquid evaporates. Stir in herbs, salt, and pepper.
- On a floured surface, roll out the puff pastry and cut into triangles resembling trees.
- Add mushroom filling to each triangle, fold sides towards center, and cut slits in edges for branches.
- Brush tops with beaten egg for a golden color.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes until puffed and golden brown.
- Serve warm, optionally drizzle with balsamic glaze or sprinkle cheese on top.
Notes
For lighter filling, substitute mushrooms with sautéed spinach. Egg wash is essential for a beautiful finish.
