Description

Delightful puff pastry trees filled with sautéed garlic mushrooms and herbs, perfect for festive gatherings.


Ingredients

  • 1 package puff pastry (thawed)
  • 2 cups fresh mushrooms (button or cremini, chopped)
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley (chopped)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh thyme (chopped)
  • 1/2 cup cheese (mozzarella or parmesan, grated)
  • 1 egg (beaten, for wash)
  • Olive oil (for sautéing)
  • Salt and pepper (to taste)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a skillet, heat a splash of olive oil over medium heat, add garlic and sauté until fragrant.
  3. Add the chopped mushrooms; cook until golden brown and liquid evaporates. Stir in herbs, salt, and pepper.
  4. On a floured surface, roll out the puff pastry and cut into triangles resembling trees.
  5. Add mushroom filling to each triangle, fold sides towards center, and cut slits in edges for branches.
  6. Brush tops with beaten egg for a golden color.
  7. Bake for 15-20 minutes until puffed and golden brown.
  8. Serve warm, optionally drizzle with balsamic glaze or sprinkle cheese on top.

Notes

For lighter filling, substitute mushrooms with sautéed spinach. Egg wash is essential for a beautiful finish.
