Description

Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream together the butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
  3. Add one egg and the vanilla extract; mix until well incorporated.
  4. Gradually add the flour, mixing until just combined. Press the dough into the prepared baking pan evenly.
  5. Bake the crust in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until lightly golden.
  6. In a separate bowl, whisk together the remaining egg with brown sugar until blended, then fold in the chocolate chips.
  7. Pour the filling mixture over the pre-baked crust and return to the oven, baking for an additional 20-25 minutes.
  8. Allow the bars to cool in the pan before slicing them into squares.
  9. Optionally, sprinkle sea salt over the top just after removing from the oven.

Notes

Use room temperature ingredients for better mixing. Don’t over-bake for a gooey filling.
