Description

A deeply satisfying and flavorful Slow Cooker BBQ Pulled Beef that combines sweet, smoky, and tangy notes, perfect for family gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 Chuck roast or brisket
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce
  • 1 onion, sliced (yellow preferred)
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup low-sodium beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
  • Soft buns for serving

Instructions

  1. Trim excess fat from the roast.
  2. Rub the beef generously with salt, pepper, paprika, and cayenne (if using).
  3. Sear the beef in a skillet on all sides until browned.
  4. Place sliced onions at the bottom of the slow cooker, add beef on top, and pour barbecue sauce and beef broth over it.
  5. Cover and cook on low for about 8 hours (or on high for 4-5 hours).
  6. Once cooked, shred the beef with two forks and mix it into the juices.
  7. Serve on buns with coleslaw and pickles.

Notes

For extra depth of flavor, substitute fresh garlic with sautéed mushrooms. Let the beef rest for 15 minutes after shredding to allow juices to redistribute.
