Description

A delightful cake featuring tart apples enveloped in a rich, buttery batter, with warm spices for a comforting treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups sliced apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 splash of milk
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch round cake pan or a 9×13-inch pan.
  2. Peel, core, and slice the apples. Toss them with lemon juice to prevent browning.
  3. Cream together the butter and granulated sugar until fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time with vanilla.
  4. Sift together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and cinnamon.
  5. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients, adding a splash of milk for a smooth batter.
  6. Fold in the apples until well distributed.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for about 45-50 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  8. Let cool for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

Feel free to add nuts or raisins for a twist. Monitor baking closely in the last minutes to prevent overcooking.
